Reclaiming our Intuition: A Personal Reflection

age-old wisdom healing journey inner wisdom intuition mindfulness personal empowerment self-trust spiritual growth trauma recovery Mar 09, 2024

After trauma, we often lose trust in ourselves, because we blame ourselves for not being able to protect ourselves from trauma. And we find solace by placing our trust outside of ourselves to gurus, mystic systems, religion, cultural institutions and practices that help us feel whole again. And we assume that that external entity is the sole reason for our survival.

We begin to identify with the external entity, fully trusting its seemingly infallible wisdom. And we forget how to trust our intuition. We forget that we once had an inner knowing and connection to our greatest potential.

We let our leaders, teachers, gurus, and religions tell us what we should do with our lives and what we should believe. And even when it seems contrived, we do it without question. Because that is what we "should" do.

And we wonder how it is that one day we arrive at a life that seems completely foreign, out of control, and uninspired.

We wonder why we are still anxious, burned out, and angry when all we've done in our lives is be "good."

Age old wisdom can be beautiful. It can be life-saving. But it is not meant to replace your intuition. You were given a mind so very powerful. You were designed to create and live in infinite possibility.
